“I’ve been involved in Scouting for around eight years as an adult. I first got involved when I was asked to help out with a Cub Pack that was struggling at the time. I went along for a few nights to see if I could be of any use and here I am all these years later.”
“Outside of Scouting, I’m a politician, please don’t hate me! I have numours skills outside of Scouting which I use. My most obvious ones would be baking, hiking and my love of international travel.“
We asked Fisher if he’s out as LGBT in Scouting ….
“Yes! I think the young people really respond to you best when you’re comfortable in your own skin. I think that young people respect you more when you’re completely upfront and honest about things – they know when there’s something wrong!”
“Being out in Scouting has helped give me the confidence to do a lot of things I might have shied away from in the past. Being yourself means you can build much better relationships with other adults too, which makes everything so much easier in assisting young people.“
“Scouting is the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done in my life, making a real difference to people’s lives. My first Cubs are now starting to be young leaders and I can see the impact I’ve made. More positive LGBT role models in their lives can only be a good thing.”
“Scouting is Exciting, Energising, Eclectic!”
